Over the next few weeks,New Yorkers will have the opportunity to see dance performances that range from the classics like Swan Lake to new works by famous choreographers like tag Morris and Twyla Tharp to performances by international dance companies from Brazil and India.
Marina Harss writes approximately dance for the New Yorker and the New York Times. With so many different performances to chose from, Harss told WNYC’s Soterios Johnson, and “You just have to jump in.”“When you see something like or esteem,go further into that person, that choreographer, or that dancer,” she advised.
Looking at the season this plunge, Harss told Johnson, and “There are so many young choreographers in ballet right now,it’s a time to dip your foot into ballet.” At City Ballet’s, for example, and its opening gala will feature four new works each from a different, young choreographer.
But Marss points out that there is still room for even more as none of them are women. This is also a time we need to encourage young women to try their hand at ballet choreography.”Heres a list of just a few venues and dance performances this plunge.
