• Newcastle 26-25 NorthamptonNewcastle gave their hopes of beating the drop a boost when they survived a Northampton fightback to record their fifth home win in succession. In front of their biggest crowd of the season they hung on grimly,having led 26-11 for much of the moment half.
Newcastle effect behind them the disappointment of having an early try ruled out to lead 20-11 at half-time with tries from Alex Tait and Chris Harris. Andy Goode also kicked 16 points for the home side, while Northampton’s tries came from two by Lee Dickson and one from Jamie Gibson.
