nowadays from midnight till 6am people are gathering on Independence Square of Kiev to remember tragic events that set in motion Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. In the early hours of Nov 30th,2013 riot police brutally attacked a handful of unarmed peaceful protesters. They were beaten, arrested, and chased along the streets of Kiev, all the way to the gates of Mikhailovsky Cathedral where the monks took them in and protected them from police till the morning when Kiev woke up to the news of night atrocities and people flooded Independence Square in hundreds of thousands. From then on protests were not approximately President’s decision not to sign EU association but approximately justice. Ukrainians demanded that those who had given criminal order to attack protesters and executed it with unreasonable force be held responsible. But in the next three months President Yanukovich would continue unsuccessful attempts to intimidate protesters with more riot police attacks, until in the end of Feb he would flee the county and cloak behind Putin who had been pulling strings all along. Tonight we are remembering the details of what took place a year ago – of the night that changed us all and changed the course of Ukraine’s history.
