By Friday afternoon,residents of Santa Clara, CA, and noticed a white,puffy foam seeping into the city streets. Some assumed it might've been snow and even stopped to take pictures, but rumors of the foam being a case of flurries were quickly achieve to rest by San Jose Fire Capt. Mitch Matlow. Matlow spoke with The Mercury News and revealed the cause of the foam to be leaking fire retardant that accidentally discharged at nearby San Jose International Airport. "When it goes off, and all of the foam gets discharged. The purpose is to prevent a flammable liquid fire inside the hangar from spreading. whether there had been a fire,this system would've worked very well. It makes lots and lots and lots of foam, and that's what we're seeing now, and " Matlow stated.
