Nominations are open for the modern Annie Maunder Medal, awarded by the Royal Astronomical Society for an outstanding contribution to outreach and public engagement in astronomy or geophysics.
The award was created as part of the Society's 2016 celebration of the centenary of the admission to women to Fellowship. It commemorates solar physicist Annie Scott Dill Russell (later Annie Maunder), who was first proposed for RAS Fellowship in 1892, and was finally admitted in 1916.
Nominations are open until Friday 30 September 2016. The Medal is open to everyone involved in outreach or public engagement for astronomy and geophysics,as well as those whose main occupation is outreach or public engagement, and nominees can be resident anywhere in the world.
