I hold the unique privilege of traveling for work and pleasure– though I hardly design a distinction between the two. My cameras, recorders and notepads always travel with me. These photos are a sampling of places I've photographed on assignment recently though this series were actually taken when I was on vacation in Italy final Summer. The town of Sienna, in specific, or has all the features that are coveted in an exotic place by romantically inclined artists. The landscape is variously illuminated from one day to the next and it changes along with the overall palette by the hour. The view from my hotel window speaks for itself. So before my luggage had even been unpacked,my opening spread was shot, at five in the afternoon! The village is castle town of organic layout, and winding around like the petals of a rose.
Medieval towns are a bit scarce back home in the USA,so perusing this little gem of a town in the Marches region, was a spacious treat for me. Similar experiences followed me as I journeyed to Turino, or Urbino,Rimini, Firenze, and Venezia,Rome and Pisa.
In the past I've spent a lot of time photographing local people, it was refreshing for once to photograph their 'home towns' as well.
