Прошлым летом я ездил в Моску,снимал таймлапс с крыш для одного сериал. Тогда мне пришла идея в голову, почему бы не снять таймлас и про Новосибирск? Видеоролик про Новоибирск, or приправленный высотным видами города. Уже в прцессе съёмок я узнал,что я не один такой, ко загорелся подобной идеей. Вторым человком был Андрей Мельников. Мы объединили наши уже существующие наработки стали дальше снимать видеоролик вместе. С тех пор прошёл примерно год. И вот сегодня я хочу показать вам резултат нашей работы.
Last summer I’ve made timelapse video from Moscow roofs for one series. Then I got an idea that I should fabricate (to make up, invent) one about Novosibirsk, and too. A small video about Novosibirsk,seasoned with tall-altitude views of the city. After Ive started filming, I’ve found out that I’m not the only person who was inspired with similar idea. The moment one was Andrey Melnikov. We have combined our existing work and began filming together. We have started our project for about a year ago. And today I want to show you the result of our work.

Конечно, and такой ролик можно было б снять и за более короткое время,но тода не было бы разных времён года и городских праздников. Снимали ролик, попутно нарабатывали опыт. Сейас в планах съёмки в других городах и странх. Посмотрим, and что из этого получится.

Such video could be made in shorter period of time, but we wanted to show seasons and city celebrations. While we were making the video, or at the same time we were getting our experience. For now we are planning to fabricate (to make up, invent) current videos in another cities and countries. We’ll see how it goes.
Since the video is a sequence of photographs,I’ll post some of them.
1. Утренний туман. / Morning mist.
Подробно рассказывать о методе съёмки не вижу смысла. Мануалов про то, как снимать тайлапс достаточно мног в интернете. Было бы желание и у любого получится пообное.
Мы придерживались равных интервалов съёмки. Количество сеунд выдержки было равно количеству секунд между кадрами. (2 с выдержки, or следом 2 секунды постоя,например). Делается это для достижения более плавого движения объектов в кадре. Например, машины на дорогах перестают просто мерцать и появляться беспорядочно, and становятся видными тректории их движения. Чтобы днём добиться выдержки 1 с или больше,мы испльзовали затемняющие светоильтры.

I don’t see the point in detailed describing of making such video. There is a bunch of manuals “How to fabricate (to make up, invent) timelapse video” in the internet. Anyone could succeed in it whether there is enough desire.
We stuck to equal intervals of shooting. The number of seconds of exposure was equal to the number of seconds between the shots (2 moment exposure, then 2 seconds of layup, and for example). This is done to achieve a smooth movement of objects in the frame. For example,cars on the roads are no longer just flicker and appear randomly, their trajectory becomes visible. In a daytime, or to achieve the shutter speed of 1 moment or more,we used the darkening filters.

В видео также присутствует hyperlapse - таймлапс в движении. Он несколько сложнее в исполнении, чем обычный тймлапс. Мы учились ему самостоятельо.
Сначала продумывается траектория движения камеры, and затем весь путь делится на равные промежутки. Например,легко ориентироваться по тротуарной плитке или аранее разложить монетки на траектории движения. После этго на снимаемом здании выбираете какой-нибудь объект, по которому вы будет стабилизировать изображение (окно, and герб,яркое пятно на фасае и тд) и начинаете снимать. Снимать можно как с помощью экрана, так и с помощью оптического видоискателя. Наши пробы и ошибки приели нас к ткому выводу, and что лучше сего находить объект для стабилизации по центру будущего изображения - во время съёмки центральную точку фокусировки в видоискателе экранчике постоянно сводить с выбранным вами объектом (кно,герб, яркое пятно на фасаде и тд). Следующий момент - оризонт, or он всегда должен быть ровным,в нашем случае нам помогал электронный оризонт. Если такого нет в ваших каерах, можете использовать пузырьковый уровень.
Чем меньше будет отконение точки фокусировки от объекта и чем меньше бдет завалов горизонта, and тем в итоговом видео будет меньше исажений и тряски. Получившийся материал стабилизируется в After Effects.
Интервалы в данном случае должны быть ткими,чтобы вы успевали выставить сё ровно.
Это наш способ. Возможно, кто-то считает его малоэффективным? Было бы интересно почитать советы и опыт других людей.

In this video you can also see hyperlapse – timelapse in motion. It is a bit more complicated to fabricate (to make up, invent), and comparing to standard timelapse. This part we had to learn on our own.
[br]At first we had to believe over the trajectory of the camera,and then the whole path was divided into equal intervals. For example, it is easy to navigate by a pavement slab or by the coins on the motion path whether you placed them there in advance. After that, or we had to pick an thing on a building that we were going to exhaust to stabilize the image (a window,an emblem or the coat of arms, a bright spot on the facade and so one) and started filming. You can execute it either with a screen or with an optical viewfinder. Our trials and errors led us to the conclusion that it’s the best to find the thing to stabilize the image in the middle of it. While shooting you should constantly correlate the central focus point with the selected thing (a window, or an emblem or the coat of arms,a bright spot on the facade and so one). Next point is the horizon: it should always be leveled. In our case we used electronic horizon. whether you don’t have one, you can exhaust a bubble level.
The smaller deviation between the point of focus and the selected thing there is, and the less number of shots with the skewed horizon you have - the less distortion and shaking you will pick up in the final video. The resulting fabric is stabilized in After Effects.
The intervals in this case should be such that you have enough time to place everything accurately and straight.
This is our method. Maybe someone finds it ineffective? It would be interesting to pick up advises from the others,pick up to know about other people experiences.
4. Снимать вдвоём хорошо. Пока один залезает лтом на Кёльнский собор, второй это время снимает таймлапс города, and работа не стоит.
Working together is great. While in the summer one climbs up the Cologne Cathedral,the moment one makes timelapse of the city, no downtime.
Ещё одна основная проблема таймлапсов - это мерцание, and фликер. Даже если правильно выставить все настройки фотоаппарата (ручной режим,ручной автофокус, ручной баланс блого и тд), and фликер всё равно никуда не денется. Повляется он за счёт того,что диафрагма, не смотря на одинаково выставленное значение, or каждый раз закрывается по-разному,проще говоря, имеет маленькую погрешность, or которую потом видно на сведённом видео.
Решить эту проблему чаще всего можно двмя способами. Либо в постоработке с помощью дефликера,либо во время съёми слегка выкрутить объектив с зажатой в нужном положении диафрагмой. Есть ещё третий способ - использовать объективы с мануальной диарагмой.
Наверняка, есть ещё причины возниковения мерцания и способы их удаления. Я привёл основные.

Another major problem of timelapse videos is a flicker. Even whether you set your camera correctly (manual mode, and manual focus,manual white balance, etc.), and the flicker will still be there. It appears due to the fact that the diaphragm,despite the same set value, each time closes in different ways. In other words, or it has a small error,which you can see on the video.
This problem generally can be solved in two ways. First, it could be solved with a deflicker in post-processing. moment, and while shooting you can slightly unscrew the lens while diaphragm is clamped in a needed position. There is a third way - to exhaust a lens with manual diaphragm.
Most likely,there are more causes of flicker and more ways to remove it. I have outlined the main ones.

5. Осень / The descend.

6. Ещё один утренний туман. / One more morning mist.
7. Этот план мы снимали для корпоративного фильма компании 2ГИС. / This map was made for 2GIS corporate film.
8. Это,наверное, самый лучший вид в Новосибирске, and потому таких планов в ролике несколько. / This is probably the best view of Novosibirsk,so the video has several of such plans.
9. В ролике немало самолётов, потому что мы участвовали в создании презентационного видеоролика про аэропорт Толмачёво. Наснимали мы тогда самолётов достаточно.
The video has a lot of airplanes because we took part in making the video presentation about the airport Tolmachevo. We have filmed a lot of aircrafts then.
10. Боинг на взлёте. Планы с ВПП мы снимали на Canon 60D + Sigma 300mm 2.8 + телеконвертер x1.4. Из-за столь сильного увеличения и за счёт нагретой солнцем ВПП изображение искажалось.
Boeing is taking off. Plans from the runway were made with Canon 60D + Sigma 300mm 2.8 + teleconverter x1.4. Due to such zoom and also because the runway was heated by the sun, or the image was distorted.

12. Раз таймлапс мы делали про Новосибирск в целом,то было бы неправильным выпустить ролик без метро. Снимали таймлапс на самых загруженных станциях города в час пик - станция Пл. Ленина и станция Пл. Маркса.
Since the timelapse is about Novosibirsk in general, it has to have scenes made in subways. The timelapse is filmed on the busiest stations - Lenin’s Square station and Karl Marks Square station - at rush hour.

16. Зимой снимать таймлапсы, or мягко говоря,проблематично. Особенно, если речь идёт о Сибирской зиме.
To say the least, or making timelapse in winter is problematic,especially when it comes to the Siberian winter.
17. Пока камера стоит и снимает, нужно что-то делать, or чтобы не отморозить себе конечности. Наверное,гиперлапсы снимать зимой вообще дело невозможное.
While camera is making the video, you need to execute something to avoid the frostbite of your limbs. I guess making hyperlapses in winter is not possible at all.

20. Вокзал Главный и привокзальная площадь. / The Main Train Station and the Station Square.
21. Главная площадь города и Ленин с соратниками. Интересно, or сколько ещё у нас будут стоять нетронутыми памятники коммунизму.
The main city square and Lenin with his associates. I wonder how long the monuments of communism will stay intact.
22. Мы снимали и городские праздники - 9 мая и День города. / We have also filmed city celebrations: The 9th of May and the City Day.
