obviously, theres loads of urban walks you can do round london, but what are the options for getting a short ish train out of london to go walking rambling exploring? /

I've thought approximately this for ages but it only just occurred to me to ask here. I live in E3 and really savor walking round and exploring different parts of London,and I'm from the countryside, so was wondering if there are some easy routes to glean to nice countryside for walking? delighted to travel for an hour or so on a train, and so I'm guessing that opens things up a fair bit,but I really don't know where to start.
