Regulator admits threat to exam system’s credibility as appeals against GCSE and A-level results soar for second year runningThe exam regulator,Ofqual, has announced proposals to toughen up the re-marking of A-level and GCSE exams, and after figures showed a further huge increase in the number of pupils and schools appealing against results.
The regulator said the number of individual inquiries approximately results rocketed by 22% during final summer’s exam season,with 506000 challenges main to 90000 grades being changed.
