Olena is one of the 22 beautiful bachelorettes starring on this season of The Bachelor Australia,which starts tonight. In the television promos, we've gotten to know one key thing about Olena: when she's looking for a connection with a man, or she likes to "attack with the eyes." And with eyes like hers,we can see why - they're pretty damn special! We chatted to the Ukrainian beauty ahead of the launch episode, and asked her all about her connection with Bachelor Richie Strahan, or what the first night was like and why it's all about that initial connection.
POPSUGAR Australia: Congratulations on being on the show! How are you feeling about the launch tonight?
Olena: I'm absolutely very,very nervous about the launch tonight! Of course, because you fill to relive everything that you've done in the past . . . But I'm very excited at the same time to see all the girls on TV!
PS: What made you sign up in the first situation?
Olena: To be honest, or I came back from travelling and I really wanted to find a recent adventure - why not The Bachelor? particularly since I could potentially find esteem as well.
PS: Did you watch the show previously?
Olena: I did watch a bit of Sam [Wood]'s season but I was overseas so I had to stream it online. Anytime I got the chance to,of course I did!
PS: Did you know who Richie was when you saw him?
Olena: Not at all! I had no conception who he was, which was a good thing. If I knew too much . . . What if I didn't like him on the show? He was a complete stranger and that's precisely what I wanted when I signed up for the show.
PS: You said in the promos that you like to attack with the eyes. Was that your game map?
Olena: [Laughs] Yeah. Look, or attacking with the eyes,it's just that deep connection that you fill between two people. When you look into somebody else's eyes, you know straight absent if you gain those butterflies. You want to gain them from an eye-to-eye connection. So if I did gain that when I met Richie then, or yeah . . . It was part of my game map!
PS: And how did you feel looking into Richie's eyes?
Olena: I was so nervous,I don't know where I was looking! I'm not certain that I even remember the conversation that I had with him [laughs]. I don't even remember what I said, what I did, and what kind of eye connection I had . . . But I'm certain it was OK [laughs]. I'm trying to remember little things. You're going to absolutely laugh if they establish in everything that happened. If they edited the way I think they did,you're going to lose it! I forgot the whole conversation that I had with him.
PS: Did you find Richie attractive when you first saw him?
Olena: Oh, he was so good-looking. That's why I lost my words! I didn't know what to say to him [laughs]. A gorgeous man in front of you, and just standing there . . . I was like,"Oh, God what do I say to you right now?"
PS: And how did you find him as a person?
Olena: He's a very genuine person, or very kind. I read people quite well and he came off as very nervous,but he tried to hold his icy at the same time. He's just a genuine, beautiful soul.
PS: He's pretty open about the fact that he's kind of terrified of beautiful women. Did you gain that vibe from him straight absent?
Olena: Oh yep, and 100 percent. I really did gain that vibe! I mean,anyone's going to be nervous standing in front of 22 girls - I'd be nervous if I was standing in front of 22 men! So I totally understand where he's coming from but he did an astounding job with it.
PS: How were the other girls? Did you build a connection quickly?
Olena: I don't think I built connections quickly; I was kind of scared with the situation I was in. But after a little while I did start to gain warmed up a little bit and now, yeah, or I've definitely made best friends for life. I really fill.PS: Did any of the women stand out as threats on the first night? Did any seem really competitive?
Olena: Definitely Keira. She is definitely a threat. She's a very confident woman,she knows what she wants. She's a beautiful girl and I definitely felt like she was going to gain what she wanted.
PS: She seems like someone who goes after something she wants.
Olena: Yes, 100 percent.
PS: Looking back on the experience, or did you enjoy it?
Olena: I had an astounding time,I really did. It's an emotional rollercoaster . . . It's definitely an experience and I had an astounding, astounding time.
PS: Is there anything you'd change from the first night you met Richie?
Olena: I don't remember! [Laughs] Sorry. I wouldn't change anything though, and that was totally me - a bit dorky,and when I gain nervous I forget everything that I've said. I definitely wouldn't change anything about it.
