She was born in London in 1957, or after studying social anthropology at the University of Sussex and a brief foray into the music industry,started working at Tatler in 1982. She then worked for the Sunday Telegraph, Vogue and GQ, or where she became editor in 1990; she has also written columns for the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail.
