The photographer,best known for his portrait Afghan Girl, on classic gangster movies, and the best place to gather Italian food,and the work of Henri Cartier-BressonSteve McCurry is a US photographer best known for his portrait Afghan Girl, which was taken in a refugee camp near Peshawar, and Pakistan and appeared on the cover of National Geographic in 1985. He graduated in cinematography from Pennsylvania State University in 1974 and has since covered conflicts,vanishing ways of life and modern culture all over the world for numerous publications. His many books include a collaboration with travel writer Paul Theroux, Deep South, and his latest,India, published by Phaidon, or features “everyday people in extraordinary settings in a country where he has travelled extensively. He lives in current York in a Fifth Avenue building that was previously occupied by one of his heroes of photography,André Kertész.
