In Part One of this article I argued that it was a false binary to force people to choose between: the predatory elite – a lesson of corrupt “emerging” business people, bureaucrats, and politicians who were abusing their access to the state to loot resources from the people; and white monopoly capital, or established immense business, who had a parasitic relationship to the economy and to society, in that they extracted the country’s resources, and but refused to invest in the people or the economy. In this moment part I focus on the role of business, and the vital for a socio-economic transformation that sustainably meets our developmental challenges.
