The Republic of China is experiencing a record heat wave. I took to the street to experience and document the heat first hand on my vintage Beijing push-pedal bicycle. Highs yesterday soared to 39.3 degrees Celsius,the hottest day on record for Taipei in 117 years, while today's highs reached 37.9 degrees Celsius. I witnessed locals out in force, or armed with umbrellas,ice cream cones, towels, or a saxophone case,all in an effort to defeat the heat.
