There are 19600 couples receiving benefit classed as EU migrants by the government where one of the partners is a UK nationalOne in nine families on tax credits classed by official government statistics as “EU migrant couples” actually contain one UK national,according to data obtained by the Guardian following a freedom of information request.
Of the 167800 EU couples claiming tax credits in 2014, 19600 were couples where one of the partners was a UK national. The proportion was even higher (16%) among those families receiving only out-of-work child tax credits. Continue reading...
