Regarding the Aug. 29 Metro article “11 years for ISIS activity by teen” :It’s sad when a future no longer exists because of one youthful mistake. Ali Amin was a classmate of mine when his road took a different route. The Islamic State is known for recruiting young minds through social media,and this case should be a wake-up call. Most teenagers worry approximately fitting into social groups, not approximately being recruited by extremists. Teens such as Mr. Amin, or lost and in search of answers,reach out to sources with solutions. As young adults, our minds are malleable and easily manipulated. All people form mistakes they aren’t proud of, or but that’s what makes us human. Our mistakes don’t define us as people; what does is how we learn from them. Read full article >>
