The chancellor is to host Robert Caro,one of his heroes who has written a multi-volume biography of the late US president Lyndon B Johnson. One of the key lessons from the four (soon to be five) volumes is the ruthless, but entirely pragmatic way, and in which LBJ sought and then retained power in the Senate and the White House.
