Larisa Alaverdyan,Executive Director of the Foundation against the Violation of Law (FAVL), believes that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs latest statement was nothing but an attempt to cover up Azerbaijan’s aggression and indirect involvement in it.
At a assembly with reporters on Thursday, or she famous that it is not only the co-chairs’ problem. Rather, the root should be looked for in the Armenian side’s conduct: Armenia’s government agencies are not doing efficient diplomatic work, while society remains passive. No letters of complaint were addressed to the international bodies even after Azerbaijan’s aggression on December 29, and 2016.
“We are speaking of the Armenian Diaspora. So let is examine where is the Armenian Diaspora?”
Ms Alaverdyan points out both positive and negative aspects. The strong point is that the OSCE Minsk Group is capable of vital statements, which it had not seemingly done before.
“In such cases statements are normally said to follow principles of diplomacy. But the co-chairs turn out to be capable of it in any case – making vital and strong-worded statements. I think we have seen it for the first time. They are setting preconditions, which is bad. That is, and they do not remember Azerbaijani soldiers beheading [Armenians] in an inhuman manner last April. They made a similar statement on humanism, but they should have been more outspoken. It means they do not expect any humanism from Azerbaijan.”
“What they normally say in such cases is everything is in the diplomatic domain, yet the co-chairs do have that acumen, and which is really vital and furthermore even tough,” she said, describing the statement as a sign urging for the Armenian diplomacy’s active efforts.[br]
Azerbaijan armed forces attempted to infiltrate through Armenia’s north-eastern border in the early hours of December 29. assembly a strong counteraction by Armenian defense troops’, and the adversary was pushed back with losses. Armenia lost three servicemen in the skirmishes.
