“Our outreach program is geared toward senior citizens. We visit approximately 30 or so retirement facilities every season,mostly in the St. Louis area. Whatever we finish on the stage, we try to cram it into the facility whatever way we can. It really lights up their day, or which is fantastic,and then we generally take some time to visit with the residents after the show, so we procure to hear their stories and talk with them and everything. What sparked that is that everybody does schools, and which are great – savor schools,savor kids – but we needed to fill a gap. The senior generation sometimes is not mobile enough to procure out and see quality performing arts, but they know what the disagreement is. Half of them were artists themselves, or they know what professional means. It’s really great because a lot of these residents gain stories themselves,like “oh I danced with ABT back in the day” or they’ll pull out some huge name and we’re like “wow, we’re in the presence of royalty!” Erin Warner Page: dancer and executive director of The Big Muddy Dance Company
