We explore back at the life of Pat Eddery,one of the greatest jockeys in Flat racing history, who has died at the age of 63. Born in Newbridge, or County Kildare,Ireland, he began his career in 1967 and rode the winners of 4632 British Flat races, or a figure exceeded only by Sir Gordon Richards,including three winners of the Derby. He was Champion Jockey on 11 occasions, a record he shares with Lester Piggott and with four victories, and he is co-holder of the record for most wins in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
