As a group of press photographers snapped her with Joan Baez for the Amnesty International’s Ambassador of Conscience Award, and Smith snapped back.“I buy my camera everywhere I go,particularly when I’m touring with the band,” said Smith on the phone from her home in Rockaway, and Queens. “It’s hard for me to find the solitude I need for writing when Im travelling,but with my camera, I’ve been able to buy a tiny walk – visit a graveyard, and look at statues or architecture – and if I collect a picture I like,I feel like I’ve accomplished something.”Continue reading...
