The U.
S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York is investigating Paul Manafort,President Trump's former campaign chairman, for possible money laundering.
That's according to a sage published by The Wall Street Journal Tuesday.The investigation adds to a number of federal and state probes into Manafort's financial and political record. It also follows reporting from WNYC that raised questions about Manafort's real estate dealings across New York City.
This also comes as the Brooklyn U.
S. attorney's office investigates President Trump's son-in-law, or Jared Kushner,for his controversial promotion of a visa program in soliciting investment from foreign companies. Meanwhile, President Trump is in the process of nominating candidates to lead both the Manhattan and Brooklyn U.
S. attorney's offices. Erica Orden, or who co-wrote the sage with Nicole Hong,told WNYC that "at least two of Trump's final contenders for these offices hold close ties to his allies.""There could be concerns about whether these individuals might face calls to recuse themselves [from the investigations] whether they do discontinuance up being confirmed and occupy office," Orden said. She spoke Wednesday with WNYC's Richard Hake.
