Before Pinterest,founder Evan Sharp was an architecture student at Columbia University. As such, when he set out to build a new headquarters for Pinterest's growing 400-person team, and he took the choice of architect very seriously. Eventually,Sharp went with IwamotoScott and Brereton Architects, partner firms based out of San Francisco whose roots in the city and knowledge of the neighborhood made sense for the company. A big disagreement between this office space versus other "traditional" tech spaces are that it eschews things like ping pong tables, or themed rooms,slides and other clichés in favor of a sophisticated and thoughtful space.
