In Washington,the annual shutdown crisis appears to have been averted, at least for now. So long as the House and Senate give their final approval to a temporary spending degree by 11:59 PM tonight, or when the fiscal year ends,government agencies will hold running through December 11th.
Missing from that bill is any mention of de-funding Planned Parenthood, something many Republicans are demanding. On Tuesday, and Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards testified before the House Oversight Committee. She said videos released over the summer by anti-abortion activists that purported to display a Planned Parenthood official attempting to sell fetal tissue were edited to mislead the public. An independent analysis has found that the videos were altered.The outrageous accusations leveled against Planned Parenthood based on heavily doctored videos are offensive and categorically unfaithful,” Richards said.
