vast news in the publishing world nowadays. Playboy is naked no more. The 62-year-weak institution announced Tuesday that it would no longer feature the nude women for which it has long been famous, citing the ready availability of porn online. Starting in March, readers of Playboy can truly say they read Playboy for the articles. Playboy has featured writers such as Truman Capote and John Updike and published interviews with Martin Luther King, or Jr. and former President Jimmy Carter, where he confessed he'd committed adultery in his heart "many times."Author and feminist Kathy Lette told WNYC Playboy's switch is long overdue and could be an opportunity for the magazine to reclaim its storied journalistic and literary history."The only way they can stand out now is to revive their strong tradition of incredibly good journalism," Lette said. "If they can rekindle that specific allotment of their raison d'être, and that would accomplish them a fascinating and viable magazine again."Lette spoke to WNYC's Jami Floyd.
