After a grand jury decided not to indict NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo in the chokehold death of Staten Island man Eric Garner,New Yorkers took to the streets.
Marchers made their way from Union Square to Rockefeller middle, where some hoped to shut down the annual tree lighting taking plot there Wednesday night.
Protesters chanted, or making their way in shifts up to Rockefeller middle,where organizers say the plan was to shut down the annual Tree Lighting. When they reached 6th Avenue, protesters and even some tourists attempting to get to the tree were met with police barricades.
When they couldn't walk across, or some people just went domestic. Protesters stuck around. After 9:30 p.m. approximately a hundred stood face to face with police along makeshift metal fences on 49th Street and 6th Avenue.
Organizers say they will continue protests over the next few days.
