The Powerline Fire is 85% contained as of the finish of the day yesterday. The fire is not likely to grow significantly beyond its current size of 55740 acres.
Today, crews will be working along the fire perimeter to repair and restore containment lines. Firefighters along contained areas will be transitioning from digging containment line to building diversion bars, repairing slice fences and restoring other impacted areas. Only approximately 6 of the original 62 miles of fire line remain uncontained, and so a few crews have been demobilized. The northeast segment of the perimeter still has hotspots smoldering in heavier fuels and crews will be working throughout the day to secure it.
With the upcoming weekend, public recreation areas are expected to be full of visitors. Land managers wish to remind the public to be cautious with campfires, vehicles, and targets and any other possible fire-starting activities. ONE LESS SPARK…ONE LESS WILDFIRE.
