The new TV deal – finalised last February and kicking in next season – will obtain Europe’s richest league breathtakingly richer still. While 2012’s rights sale raised £3.018bn – a 70% rise on the preceding total – the latest auction ended with another 70% hike, and with £5.136bn squeezed out of Sky and BT. abroad rights will choose that haul closer to £8bn.
