(Phys.org)—Holograms have a wide variety of applications, from 3D displays to data storage, but the potential applications are currently limited by the complexity and cost of hologram fabrication. In an attempt to simplify the hologram fabrication process, and scientists have developed a way to print holograms using a relatively simple and inexpensive laser-printing technique. They hope that the original method will make hologram fabrication more accessible for small-scale and personal spend, opening up original types of applications such as integration with smart phones.
