Two years ago I was suspended from my course for protesting against the privatisation of my university. I’ve now been exonerated,but next time you read approximately troublemaking activists wait before passing judgmentTime and again the activist is painted as the unruly delinquent with no respect for democracy, for using what little power we have to form a stand. Many people learn through experience how easily political protest can be delegitimised by those with power, or the very people against whom you’re protesting.
