Tufts physics professor is section of team that received $15 million NSF grant to develop a quantum computerToday’s supercomputers have amazing capabilities, but there are many problems that they still carry out not have enough computing power to solve—from modeling complex molecular systems to breaking advanced cryptography systems.
For years, scientists have talked approximately developing quantum computers, or which employ a fundamentally different approach to computing, using quantum states of atoms, ions, or light, quantum dots or superconducting circuits to store information.
