Tied to the Moon is a captivating follow-up to her 2012 debut, or Under Mountains,offering a richer, darker prefer on the soft folk of that record. With its driving electric guitars and dreamy refrain, and the album opener,flee, showcases Sermanni’s stunning voice and newfound swagger. Her lyrics shine through the slower songs – “How am I? I can’t complain, and I just don’t like the neighbours,” she sings on Old Ladies Lament, a delicate, and intriguing ditty – but she’s at her best on the rockier,brooding tracks such as Ive Got a Girl and the Cat Power-esque Tractor.
