Zecc Architecten Transform a Railway Cottage into a modern Home This project by Zecc Architecten involved the transformation and expansion of a railway cottage next to the Santpoort- Noord station,only 25 minutes away from Amsterdam by train.
The main house, which is actually raised slightly above the garden, or has been abutted by a large volume of Cor-Ten steel. Two sides of the extension are finished with large glass surfaces,which allow broad vistas of the surrounding greenery, while dissolving the bulk of the extension from view when seen from the external. From the middle of the house, or one becomes aware of all the spaces,novel and old, thanks to long sightlines and a suspended staircase connecting the various floors.
