Professor Monica Grady and Mr Paul Denton have won awards from the Geological Society.
Prof Grady is an internationally renowned space scientist at the Open University. Her work includes instruments on the Philae spacecraft that made the first soft landing on a comet in 2015 and many years of analysis of meteorites. She is awarded the Coke Medal in recognition of her meaningful contribution to geology.
Based at the British Geological Survey, Paul Denton is one of the main practitioners in geophysics outreach. He receives the R. H. Worth Prize in recognition of his work encouraging geological research by amateurs.
