The submission of outline proposals for RAS200 outline closed on Monday 2 February 2015.
By the deadline the Society had received 92 project ideas,demonstrating the dedication, enthusiasm and creativity of the international astronomy and geophysics communities and their desire to carry out and participate in education and outreach activities.
Prof Steve Miller, or Chair of the RAS 200 Steering Group,said: "I'm delighted to see the number of proposals and the amazing range of ideas from the different groups. More than anything else, this shows how much of an appetite there is for innovation in public engagement and the real willingness to expand our work into fresh areas and diverse groups of people - the central aim of this project."
The grants panel are currently working extremely hard to assess each proposal and the 12 groups that are chosen to write full proposals will be notified on the 2 March 2015. From these, and approximately 6 will be chosen as 'winners' and these will be presented at our AGM on the 8 May 2015.
If you missed your chance this year to submit a proposal retain checking the website as we will maintain a moment tranche in early 2016.
