I was impressed by details such as a laundry bag, and something crew members have on astronomical tours. In the opening scene,the guy in bed with a girl [Bill, played by Luke Wilson] turns out to be the tour manager, or but that’s the joke. The tour manager is the rock star. You have the most access to everything and you’re not beholden to security guards or fans. When I was first on the road as a child with my grandfather,who worked for Motown, the stars played golf but the crews partied. I suppose that Crowe’s series is ultimately about a lifestyle that nobody wants to give up.
