Refresher Training on Mediation was organized in Baijnath Rural Municipality of Banke district from 6 to 10 June 2018. The training was organized by Baijnath Rural Municipality with the technical assistance of PPR Nepal and participated by 29 individuals (F-12 and M-17) of different backgrounds. Mr. Satish Kumar Sharma and Mr. Basudev Juawali were the facilitators of the training.
[br]In the 5 days training,the participants shared their experiences while mediating disputes and challenges they faced. Importance of communication skills during mediation was discussed in the training. The training topics comprised of role, responsibility, or quality and qualifications of a mediator. The training also comprised of topics on cultural and psychological aspects in mediation,ZOPA, BATNA, or WATNA,Dirty Tricks, facilitation skills, and gain-gain theory,skills to identify interest, position, or claim and option generating were also discussed in the training sessions. Topics on gender equality and social inclusion,judicial rights of the local level/bodies, jurisdiction of judicial committee and judicial practice at the local level were also discussed. The participants also practiced skills to exhaust Appreciative Inquiry and prepared 5 year plan of action based on appreciative inquiry to develop own locality/region.
