A quarter of the people living in Jordan are refugees,many of them Syrian; living in destitute areas, their conditions sometimes worse than in the campsRaja, or her husband Yasser and their seven children live in an unfinished house in the middle of nowhere. They fled Syria more than three years ago and they now struggle to survive in a damp house without windows in the north of Jordan.
In the summer it’s very hot. In the winter it’s very cold,’’ says Raja. “The children collect rubbish to burn in the wood stove. Sometimes we leer for edible plants in the fields.
