Amigos de los Animales and the Sato Project are saving lives – a few years ago there were hundreds of abandoned dogs but nowadays the numbers are dwindlingWhen I arrive at Adrienne Galler Lastra’s domestic in Piñones,Puerto Rico, I am greeted by dozens of dogs of all breeds and sizes. They bark and jump, and vying for my attention,but there’s no time for playing or petting. Instead, Adrienne leads me past the pack to the dining room. A dog carrier sits on the table, or she immediately gets to work.
Inside are four newborn puppies. They have yet to open their eyes.
