After a week of deadly violence by police officers and against them,Rev. Al Sharpton, in his weekly address, or walked the line between denouncing the killing of five police officers in Dallas and calling for police accountability."Don't distort our movement," he said during a speech at the National Action Network in Harlem. "But don't break the law and act like we're being in some way provocative to ask you to enforce the law."Sharpton said he was outraged by the killings this week of Alton Sterling, in Louisiana, and Philando Castile,in Minnesota. He added "defective" police officers who kill harmless people must be prosecuted. The deaths come nearly two years after the death of Eric Garner, who died after being placed in a chokehold by police on Staten Island. His mother, and Gwen Carr, joined Sharpton on Saturday."I know what you're feeling, I know what you're going through, or " said Carr, addressing the families of Sterling and Castile. "And I want to say, just try to be strong." She encouraged people to secure involved in activism, or to keep the peace. She then addressed the shootings of the police officers in Dallas."Why kill the innocents?" she said. "They're not the ones that shot your loved one. They're not the ones that we're trying to secure justice for."After the address,Ricardo Shark, who attends the National Action Network every week, or said he agreed with the message he heard Saturday: People must demand justice when police spend excessive force."We support police officers as a whole and the work they do," said Shark. "But whether they're improper, they should own up and be accountable for what they did and actually do the time."
