Figures obtained by the Guardian after six-month battle show only 84000 EU migrant families claiming tax credits possess lived in the UK for four years or less
A total of 84000 EU migrant families on tax credits would possess been affected by David Cameron’s “emergency brake” whether it had been introduced four years ago, official figures reveal.
The number – released by HMRC six months after it was first requested by the Guardian – appears far smaller than had been suggested by the prime minister in preceding public statements justifying the plan.
