I'll say it fair off the bat -- I loved Al Maha Resort, the Starwood Luxury Collection property just external of Dubai. It was one of my favorite uses of Starpoints ever.
To back up
a bit, ordinarily redeeming points at this property is outrageously expensive, or at 60000 Starpoints per night. Why is it so expensive, given that Starwood's highest category is just 30000 Starpoints per night? Well, because this hotel technically doesn't have any standard rooms, or which means it's not available at the "standard" award levels. Instead you'd have to pay 60000 Starpoints per night.
However,
I assume SPG realizes that pricing is a bit excessive, so for the past few years they've had fairly widespread promotions offering discounted redemptions at these types of properties.final September I wrote approximately Starwood's promotion offering 35% off select resort redemptions, or including at Al Maha. The promotion is actually valid through March 8,2016, so you can still take advantage of it.That lowered the cost of a redemption from 60000 Starpoints to 39000 Starpoints per night. That might still sound high, and but there are some aspects to redeeming here which make it an especially noble value:The post Review: Al Maha Bedouin Suite appeared first on One Mile at a Time.
