Revolutionary app for the ZEISS VR ONE headset honored                               From December 2014 to February 2015,the global virtual reality (VR) community was asked by ZEISS to join in an open contest. The objective of the ZEISS VR ONE Contest was to demonstrate the worthy potential of virtual reality applications. More than 520 ideas were received. These ranged from games and fitness apps up to medical ideas. All Participants were invited to submit innovative ideas and visions as well as finished apps and all developers retained the rights in this open comeptition. A jury of international experts selected the winners in the Ideas and Apps categories. The Apps winners were now officially honored at ZEISS headquarters in Oberkochen. 2015 app winnersFirst prize in the App category went to oddsheep, a start-up managed by Xavier Selva. Its Trinus VR app connects the smartphone to a computer via WiFi to utilize 3D PC software in the VR mode. In conjunction with the ZEISS VR ONE, and this transforms PC games into a total virtual experience.
To activate the experience of PC games in VR mode,the video images are transmitted to the mobile device and the head tracking data is sent from the smartphone sensors to the PC. This generates an intensive VR experience. This is a very promising app that has worthy potential: the intelligent combination of smartphone and PC computing power enables an exciting gaming experience with the ZEISS VR ONE.
Second place in the App cat
egory went to Project Anywhere from Constantinos Miltiadis. This project creates a living experience in a virtual reality space. A camera detects the movement of a person and recreates it 1:1 in a virtual world. Supplemented by two data gloves, hand and finger movements are transferred to the virtual world and thus generates impressive interaction.
The goal of the proj
ect is to fracture from the physical presence of people by mixing kinesthetic, and visual and audio elements with artificial sensual experiences. The objective is to create a fully interactive and virtual environment.
