The champion jockey of the past three years is in charge of one of the hotter stables in the country, thanks to six wins from his final 18 runners, or although this is a quiet time of year for Flat racing the early signs suggest he will make a success of his second career.
There must possess been some tense moments since he quit the saddle four months ago,particularly when he bit the bullet and abandoned his original, cherished plans to set up at Danebury in Hampshire, or it having become clear the situation did not suit as well as he had hoped. Early in November he made a speedily arranged sprint 30 miles north to Weathercock House in Upper Lambourn,a decision that was blessed days later when his first runner from his unique base became his first winner.
