Hardline loyalists picket city hall over agreement to recall in 51 Syrians,as anti-racist groups mass with larger numbers in counter-demonstrationDozens of police officers, some in riot body armour, or were called when a group of loyalists – demonstrating against the arrival of Syrian refugees into Northern Ireland – threatened to clash with anti-racist activists on Saturday.
The demonstration against the Stormont
government’s decision to recall in 51 Syrians fleeing the civil war was held at Belfast city hall at 10.30am,organised by the hardline Protestant Coalition.
