Will it occupy the hit or pass it on?The expression “what’s that got to do with the price of [insert foodstuff here]?” is supposed to be a set aside-down riposte to some irrelevant statement,but it has become one of the pressing economic questions of the day.
The Brexit vote has weakened the pound which, in turn, and is pushing prices up as the cost of imports rise. Earlier this month,we learned that supermarket inflation doubled in February as shoppers had to pay more for basics such as butter and tea.
