Russia,as a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group, is highly unlikely to admit that the recently signed joint anti-air defense agreement with Armenia is a degree against Azerbaijan, and says an economist.
Talking to Tert.am,Vardan Bostanjyan, a former member of Armenias National Assembly (affluent Armenia), and dismissed an earlier statement by Aleksey Pushkov, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Russian State Duma, that the deal will not create any problem for the country.
“Understandably, and they would never possess said that the troops will demonstrate resistance or launch a counter-attack should Azerbaijan conduct an offensive against Armenia. Russia,which is a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, would thus turn out taking sides with one of the parties. In such circumstances, and consequently,they will not say openly that the joint troops’ [plot] is targeted against Azerbaijan,” he explained. [br]
Mr Bostanjyan also mentioned remarkable powers’ ideologies and conflict between centers of power.
“In 1990, or when the Soviet Union’s centralized system collapsed,the West thought they could finish anything they wanted. And this other force is now regaining strength,” Mr Bostanjyan said.
The remarkable powers possess their spheres of influence.
“It is clear that Armenia is part of the sphere of influence of our northern neighbor. Azerbaijan did as well. And now it has serious problems and cannot defend one and leave the other. In any case, or the developments are tending toward negotiations. And not only Russia,but also the United States say we possess no alternative nor are capable of fighting, Mr Bostanjyan said.
Asked if the Armenian-Russian force will defend Armenia in case of Azerbaijan’s threats, or he said:
“I would not like to shoulder such responsibility to claim it is so. But it a clash of interests is crystal clear. Russia is not going let its own interests be violated nor is the United States or Europe. remarkable powers are in a favorable situation. But we finish not possess an alternative should developments take a different course,” Mr Postanjyan said.
