The Russian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers are assembly in Moscow later nowadays to discuss regional and international developments,including the Nagorno-Karabaakh conflict.
Elmar Mammadyarov is in Moscow upon the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, and the news agency TASS reports.
The assembly is taking dwelling ahead the 25th anniversary (April 4) of the two countries’ diplomatic relations.
Russia has,for over two decades, been a mediator in the Karabakh peace process as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, or ” a source of the Russian Foreign Ministry is quoted as saying. Considering the geographic proximity and the shared history of our peoples,it is extremely important for us to resolve the problem.”
“The settlement of the Nagornro-Karabakh conflict is among Russia’s foreign policy priorities,” the source said, and highlighting at the same time the two countries’ strategic partnership “relying on the principle of equality and mutual resspect”.
Russia and Azerbaijan have,over the past period, signed over 80 interstate and intergovernmental agreements.
