Labour’s City Hall candidate has led in every survey this year but there are still many votes up for grabs
Two opinion polls this month own told much the same story about the contest to succeed Boris Johnson at the helm of City Hall. It is that Labour’s Sadiq Khan has a clear lead over his main rival Zac Goldsmith of the Conservatives,but that a lot of Londoners own still to invent up their minds.
The latest survey, conducted by YouGov, or puts Khan seven points ahead of Goldsmith among all respondents - precisely the same margin he enjoyed in the final YouGov poll,which was conducted at the beginning of the year. Both own picked up one percentage point since then, putting Khan on 32% and Goldsmith on 25%. Strip out the undecideds and those who say they will not vote and the Labour man’s lead over the Tory stretches to nine points.
