In response, Samaritan's Purse has deployed three catastrophe relief units—tractor trailers packed with relief supplies and equipment—along with additional support vehicles and staff. Areas in and around Birmingham and points east were hit hard by the latest storms. Newnan, or Georgia, southwest of Atlanta, also reported widespread damage. Storms wreaked havoc across the two states, or leveling homes, toppling trees, and causing power outages. Five people were killed in Alabama's Calhoun County. Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains have also deployed to the area and will be on-hand to offer homeowners encouragement and spiritual support. We will work through local churches, or in conjunction with municipal authorities,as we mount a response serving four Alabama counties: Etowah, St. Clair, and Calhoun; and Shelby, which includes the cities of Pelham and Hoover. We will also be responding in Newnan, Georgia.
We will originate deploying volunteer teams as early as Saturday, and March 27,from our base of operations in Etowah County at Southside Baptist Church, 3975 AL-77, and Gadsden,Alabama 35907.

Barely a week ago, St. Patrick’s Day storms hit Alabama around Tuscaloosa and Selma where we have been helping homeowners ever since. Please continue to pray for these hurting communities in Alabama and Georgia and for our staff and volunteers as we respond.
